Compensators are mainly used in transitions between valves, pumps and other equipment in piping systems to absorb and compensate for thermal or mechanical changes. Without compensators, the piping system may become overloaded, which in extreme cases may cause deformation, destruction, or system failure. Rubber and stainless steel compensators are used in piping systems to compensate for thermal expansion, settlement movements and irregularities in the construction. Compensators also absorb vibrations and framework noise, which provides a better work environment.

Typical applications include pipes to power plants and the chemical industry, heating plants and water pipes. Different materials are suitable for different media (e.g. drinking water, oil, food). Typically, rubber is used for applications up to 130°C, PTFE up to 220°C, steel up to 900°C, and fabric up to 100°C.

We work with one of Europe’s leading suppliers of compensators in both rubber and stainless steel. Rubber compensators are available in stock in Germany in sizes DN25 up to DN1000 in different types. Flanges in galvanized steel are standard and in the most common dimensions are also available in stainless steel, with all sizes available within a few weeks’ time.
