X-Y Shield in a machine tool
The X-Y Shield provides complete protection in the form of 4 folded way covers with stainless steel lamellas that move in both the X-axis and the Y-axis. It is a robust, waterproof lightweight shield that separates the machining area from the motor compartment of the machine.
The shield can achieve speeds of up to 120 metres/minute and an acceleration up to 1G.
The system guarantees dual protection as the steel lamellas protect the bellows themselves from hot and sharp metal grindings and chips and the bellows seal and protect the guides and other interior parts from liquids, such as water and cutting fluid.
